Day 3 (5/7/13)-Universidad

Today we started off our day at the university in Valparaiso. We met up with two of the students who showed us around the amazing campus. The university is right in front of the ocean so it seemed more like a resort than a school! Their school system is pretty similar to ours, except they go to school for 6 years for undergraduate instead of 4.
After our tour, we had a lecture for about 3 hours about business and learned all about the economy of Chile and other Latin American countries from Jaime. They have a cafeteria where we all had lunch: some sort of pea soup, beef on lettuce, grapes, bread, and peach juice. We were then taken on a tour of Valparaiso by two of the local students Thomas and Rudolfo. Most of the buildings had colorful paintings all over the sides and there were houses all the way up to the mountains. Once we got to the top, we had a view overlooking the city and the coast which was incredible. Then, we went down to the coast and saw the port which was enormous! Afterwards, we caught the bus and got what we all have been waiting for: EMPANADAS!!!
I got the meat, bacon, peppers, and cheese one and it was awesome! After filling up on empanadas, we went to salsa dancing lessons! Even though no one was any good at first it was a blast trying to dance like the instructor and just all looking like fools. Once the dance lessons ended, we met up with Rudolfo and his friends and went to karaoke!
